Wake Forest Historic District Walking Tour
Take the entire family on a walking tour of historic Wake Forest! Here, you can appreciate the history of the town and the beauty of the great outdoors. These walking tours are free to the public and are a great outdoor activity for all ages.
Happy Trails Farm
A trail ride along Falls Lake is the perfect springtime activity. Visit Happy Trails Farm for a day of horseback riding and other outdoor fun.
The Mountains-to-Sea Trail at Falls Lake
The Mountains-to-Sea Trail (MST) is North Carolina’s state hiking trail. It stretches 1,175 miles from the Great Smoky Mountains to the Outer Banks, stopping at many of our state’s most beautiful places along the way. At Falls Lake State Recreation Area, you can hike the 52 miles of trail that is part of the MST. The trail is rated as moderate. Section One of the trail starts at Falls Lake Dam’s Trailrace Fishing area where it meets the Neuse River Trail.
Durant Nature Preserve
A visit to the Durant Nature Preserve is a great way to enjoy Spring in the Triangle. There are plenty of different amenities that the nature preserve offers, such as: a bird garden, fishing docks, a butterfly garden, and plenty of picnicking spots.
Lafayette Village Wine Walk for Charity
Enjoy a stroll through shops and restaurants while supporting local charities! Every third Thursday each month Lafayette Village hosts a wine walk for charity with participating merchants offering free wine tastings at their business from 6-8pm. The fee is $10 and March’s charity is the Lung Care Initiative of NC. The first 100 participants receive a commemorative wine glass and past wine walkers can save $1 by bringing their wine glass!
